An Island Trip!

Yes, you read that right: another island trip. And this time, it's to Langkawi. I suppose you could say that I'm hot on the heels of drroza (although I very much doubt that there'll be any educational values in this island trip!)

I can't promise any stunning beach photos; unless I cut out the ones from the tourist pamphlets and scan them. But that'd be cheating.

I've been to Langkawi once. Back in April 2004, when it was SWELTERINGLY hot. I came back looking like a freshly baked gingerbread-man. No, no...that's an understatement. I was close to the colour of bubur asyura actually. Yes, that's the colour.

Hope I don't have to go through that again.

Do you how it feels to have someone hot on my heels? hehe

Oh Hiyoshi, I'm sure your Island trip will have some form of education or other. Just be on the look out and for sure you'll learn something useful, insyallah! Have a great journey! Salam to your parents!

surprise2, ill be heading there meself when my sister comes home from ireland. lambat lagi la. sebulan dua lagi kot.

the last time i went, it felt like a ghost town. some people tells me that its all about the kampung atmosphere, but to me, even kampung-ish-ness has a hustle and bustle of activity going on.

have a fun trip though.

Invest in sunscreen. With a ridiculously high SPF factor. Nivea is good.

awe: Tapi belum mati lagi kan?

DITH: In fact, I do. It's quite annoying, especially when the people who are hot on your heels step on the back of your shoe.

I learned this on the last trip: Always bring an umbrella around when it's hot.

23: I'll try to write a nice report for your future visit.

kenakelayan: I'll try to bring myself to do that. Up until now, sumscreen has never agreed with my skin. Makes it feel al sticky

Yes I don't really like putting gunk on my face either. But the Nivea one I tried (dark blue tube, really high SPF) felt all right on my skin. Here in summer it is always a good idea to use sunscreen. The sunlight is decptively mild, but you can turn into a red lobster at the end of a day out.

hiyoshi
under your profile you wrote "confused chap"

here when someone says they're "confused" it means they're confused about their orientation ... if you get what i mean...

Ada orang dah pergi Redang, ada orang nak pergi Langkawi. Huhuhuhu (Crimsonskye I'm using huhuhu, now that I know what it means, ;) )

Hiyoshi, boleh ikut tak? School holidays is just around the corner. Dont know where to take my children....and Langkawi sounds superb.

Hmm.....I think my old eyes can still spot and recognise Hiyoshi from my recollection of you from our last meeting, unless you really turn into 'bubur asyura'

Do take Kenakelayan's Nivea suggestion seriously. Tell you what, if I see you in Langkawi, I'll belanja you lunch or dinner? I'll not take NO for an answer.

kenakelayan: Lobster red, assuming you are initially Snow White. But if you're the gingerbread man....

mynn: Any suggestions to as what word would be a suitable substitute?

pycnogenol: Sure, you can come along. It'd be nice to meet the little Pycnogenols :) Just remember to bring along that dark blue tube of Nivea sunscreen with a ridiculously high SPF factor.

First, Hiyoshi was hot on my heels. Now Pycno is hot on Hiyoshi's heels!

So will we get identical entries on Langkawi trip? :))

Pycno- not another tiga hari dua malam business, huh? You are bringing your jinbeng, right?

Mynn- in psychiatry there's so many form of orientation, time, place etc but you must mean the other form of orientation..since the time of Nabi Lot, :))

Mynn

Yep... that is true. Bahaya tuu...

Pycnogenol

Wahh belanja makan! Rezeki jangan ditolak Hiyoshi...

Borgy

Resistance is futile?

Hiyoshi

If gingerbread man = rentung? Hmm...

DITH

There is that jinbeng word again. It sounds kinda cute and quirky :D

pycnogenol said...

DITH - I think I'll make it tiga hari dua malam KALI DUA, so as to make sure that the trip would be worth the "throwing up orally and rectally (sorry!)" sessions from the (jinbengs?)

If I DO get to meet Hiyoshi, then my entry will focus on my "belanja him makan" I'll give Hiyoshi the honour of posting the entries. Just like you, I think he's a better story-teller. (Oh...now I'm all so excited to go on that trip. Would indeed be a bonus to meet a fellow blogger!!)

DITH and Kenakelayan - Still am not sure of the meaning of the word Jinbeng, but if my guess is correct, YES, I'm bringing my (jinbeng/s??) with me on this trip.

DITH

It's like that movie "Catch Me If You Can" la pula :)

And there's that word jinbeng again! But at least I know what it means know. How about chempong? What's that?

Hiyoshi The Confused Chempong

kenakelayan

If it's stirring up such a storm, I'd better change the word 'confused' to...hmm...any suggestions?

"Resistance is futile?" <--- Sounds like it came straight out from an Alien vs Man film.

pycnogenol

I suppose if that entry did emerge on your blog, it'd have pictures of all the dishes we ordered *LOL*

Mama Pongkey said...

Resistance is futile: quote from the Borg, of Star Trek the Next Generation.

Apa tu Alien vs Man?

Word replacement suggestions: bemused, bewildered, ..er.. confounded?

I want to see pics of food! (And pics of you two?)

Jamil said...

kenakelayan

It was just an expression. I mean, the phrase Resistance is Futile could have come out from a typical movie with the storyline: Alien attacks Earth, Alien destroys Earth, Earth sends Hero to protect humankind, Hero faces Alien in final showdown, hence the title "Alien vs Man".

If I don't make sense here, feel free to ignore me.

knowing or not knowing what "resistance is futile" implies separates the trekkies and non-trekkies (read: normal people)
